The origins
Serra Dolciaria was founded in 1947 in Lastrico, a hamlet of Serravalle Scrivia, by Fiorenzo Serra and Loredana Ferrari, a young couple who began producing handmade sweets with care and dedication.
Using simple, traditional methods, distribution in the early years was almost “door-to-door”, with Fiorenzo personally delivering the sweets to customers in the area.
In the 1980s, the second generation took over: Luigi and Alessandra Serra, who decided to give the brand a new boost.
Under their leadership, the company grew, evolved and opened up to the national market, while maintaining its commitment to artisan quality and family passion.
Large-scale distribution and processing
In the 1990s, entering the large-scale distribution market represented a turning point.
Serra Dolciaria went from local production to a national presence, but the challenges increased: production, still largely manual, required a higher level of automation, efficiency and quality control.
The meeting with Logic Srl
It was at this point that the collaboration with Logic Srl began.
The aim was to improve weighing and dosing management, crucial aspects in confectionery production.
Logic supplies Serra Dolciaria with the 9095 instrument, a microprocessor control unit designed for filling lines and dosing systems.
Thanks to the 9095, the company achieves constant and precise control of the process, improving product quality and the reliability of production lines.
This robust and durable technology will remain operational for over 20 years, supporting the company in its expansion until 2024.
The revamping of 2025
With the growth in production and the evolution of the plants, a new challenge arises: updating the technology and making the plant more flexible, secure and integrated.
In 2025, Serra Dolciaria once again entrusts Logic Srl with the modernisation of its production automation.
The project involves a complete revamping of the electrical panel, replacing the historic 9095 with a new-generation PLC capable of managing recipes in a centralised and intuitive manner.
The project also includes customised panel design, commissioning and a remote assistance system to ensure continuity and rapid response times.
The results
Thanks to this evolution, Serra Dolciaria can now count on:
greater production efficiency full integration between automation and control enhanced operational security reduction in plant downtime energy optimisation and waste reduction preparation for future expansion
The relocation of the plant to Novi, in a strategic logistical position, has also improved production and distribution flows, supporting steady growth in exports (now equal to 40%).
